International Union of Nutritional Sciences(IUNS) Committee
The International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) is the global scientific union representing nutrition researchers and professionals across national societies worldwide, and it’s the body under which the ICN congress series operates.
Like most international scientific unions, IUNS is governed by an elected board — typically a president, a president-elect, vice presidents, a treasurer, and a secretary general, along with additional board members representing different regions of the world. Board terms usually run for a period of several years, with elections held at major congresses like ICN.
IUNS’s role goes beyond just overseeing ICN. The union supports nutrition science more broadly — encouraging research collaboration across countries, supporting national nutrition societies, and helping set standards and priorities for the field internationally.
Because IUNS represents member societies from such a wide range of countries, its leadership typically reflects that global reach, with board members drawn from multiple continents rather than concentrated in any single region.
